♦ Clean Energy Associates – Marketing Intern 

Shanghai, China

Internship: As a Marketing Intern, you will assist the marketing team with initiatives in marketing communications, public relations, trade show participation, digital/social media marketing, etc. Areas for engagement include (but by no means are limited to) the following:

● Assist in B2B marketing initiatives including marketing materials preparation, website maintenance, drafting press releases, trade show participation and exhibition planning, and certain brand management projects ● Help conduct market research, customer segmentation, and competitive analysis as needed to support service definitions and positioning aligned with corporate strategy ● Help with internal communication with Chinese back-office team and engineering team ●  Work very closely with the global sales team on all deals as needed and gain considerable exposure to the solar sector ●

Côté Serein– Hospitality Intern

Noyres, Bourgogne, France

The Côté Serein is a B&B classified in the “top 100 beautiful villages of France" and thus serves as a popular film-shooting sight. The two large houses can accommodate between 23 to 32 people in the small medieval city of Noyers-sur-Serein-Village. The guests are either individuals or groups of people, French and foreign.

Internship: The student intern will be housed in the local village community. Areas for engagement include (but by no means are limited to) the following:

● Reception of the guests ● Providing local recommendations, conversing with guests ● Preparation of breakfast, service and tidying up ● Invoicing and settlement of overnight stays ● Help with the maintenance of the garden and the houses ●

Intralink – Technology Industry Research and Business Development Intern

Shanghai, China

Intralink has successfully been developing and implementing strategies for China, Japan, Taiwan and Korea for over 25 years. Internship: Summer technology industry research and business development position with Intralink Shanghai Limited. Areas for engagement include (but by no means are limited to) the following:

● Assisting with opportunity assessments, partner searches, supplier benchmarks, investment coordination, local representation and commercial audits ● Helping to generate new and incremental revenues ● Organizational analyses to optimize efficiency and develop plans for establishing new client relationships ● Aiding in the sourcing of capital from strategic and financial investors in Asia ●

♦ The Regional Council of Bordeaux – Business Innovation Intern 

Bordeaux, France

The Regional Council is the deliberative assembly of the regions. It manages the affairs of the region and has expertise in the field of economic action. Since 1986, its members have been elected by direct votes for six years and its president exercises the executive functions. 

Internship: The Regional Council of Bordeaux is seeking an intern to research innovative companies and the support of these companies in the United States. Areas for engagement include (but by no means are limited to) the following:

● How are they detected, on the basis of what criteria, how are they accompanied (which actors, in what form, etc.) ● Target population: start-up (what definition in the US), and what potential and/or strategic enterprises ● Benchmarking the United States / Canada / France, among others ●

♦ Mrida – Social Enterprise Intern 

New Delhi, India

Mrida (Sanskrit for ‘Soil’) is a Social Business Venture that seeks to build sustainable & scalable business models aimed at holistic rural development and economic as well as social upliftment at the Base of the Pyramid (BOP). 

Internship: Two interns will engage in a variety of activities related to Mrida’s mission, including conducting field studies and critical analyses of iitiatives, providing recommendations for future action and expansion, developing sales and marketing plans to build market linkages with farmers and rural artisans, and more.

 Farasha Systems – Business Development Intern

Rabat, Morocco

Farasha Systems is a company that develops solutions for control and monitoring of solar power plants. In this context, it exploits two patents of inventions developed by its bearers. Farasha is a company conducting research and development to make solar energy increasingly accessible and cost-effective.

♦ Cangdong Project- Internships in a variety of fields

Kaiping, China

The Cangdong Project is an ongoing conservation and education initiative in a UNESCO-listed district in the southern Chinese province of Guangdong. The Project aims to support both the tangible and intangible heritage of Cangdong village and to promote knowledge, understanding, and appreciation of the local village ways of life and the wider Wu Yi/Sze Yap culture. The Cangdong Project was awarded the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Award of Merit for Cultural Heritage Conservation in 2015.

Internship:  There are a great many ways in which students with diverse academic interests could contribute to the Project in the summer of 2017. Areas for engagement include (but by no means are limited to) the following:

● Mapping of built environment ● Architectural research, design, representation, and even construction ●  Historical research ●  Curriculum and program development ● Horticultural surveying ● Conducting oral histories and ethnographic research with local villagers ● Organizational analyses ● Fundraising and grant writing ● Creation of multi-media promotional products and social media marketing ● Making presentations to and serving as docents for visitors ● Encouragement of local entrepreneurship ● Implementing community revitalization projects

♦ East Bali Cashews- Marketing and Communications Intern

Bali, Indonesia

East Bali Cashews (EBC) is the first large-scale cashew processing facility in Bali and one of the first village-based facilities in Southeast Asia. The company mission of EBC is: to provide employment and professional development opportunities to women; to produce delicious, high-quality cashews for an international market; to create a business model that is replicable throughout Eastern Indonesia, providing additional income and community development in cashew growing regions; to consider environmental and social sustainability in all aspects of our business.

Internship: The internship will consist of a range of tasks within the marketing department of East Bali Cashews, with frequent exposure to other functions of the business (including PR and Business Development). The focus will lie in (but will not be limited to) strategizing marketing initiatives for the international and domestic market and communicating with press, as well as streamlining & developing the company’s brand identity.

♦ Akanksha – School Support Intern

Pune, India

The Akanksha Foundation is a non-profit organization with a mission to provide children from low-income communities with a high-quality education, enabling them to maximize their potential and transform their lives. Akanksha works in the field of education, initiating school reform through The School Project, and providing a supplemental education through the Akanksha centers. 

Internship: Akanksha seeks interns to support, research, document and/or implement projects and activities in its schools. The prospective intern will work closely with the school leadership team of one of the schools in the Akanksha network and will be able to gain first-hand knowledge of the functioning of public schools in India.

♦ Pacific Licensing Studio- Marketing and Social Media Intern

Bangkok, Thailand

Pacific Licensing Studio (PLS) is a brand management and consumer products licensing agency, focusing on Asian solutions for intellectual property. A sustainable consumer products licensing business relies critically on a formula that works for all parties – downstream licensee, upstream principal and the agency in between managing the business on behalf of both clients – we focus on implementing this formula, and managing the balance between the parties to the betterment of all stakeholders.

Internship: The intern will be engaged in a variety of marketing-related projects involving both PLS’s clients and PLS’s own corporate branding and communication platforms. A significant portion of the projects (though not necessarily all) will involve social media and digital marketing.

♦ East Bali Immersion- Community and Program Development Intern

Bali, Indonesia

East Bali Immersion (EBI) is a service-learning organization, offering social, environmental and cross-cultural learning adventures to international tour groups (primarily students).  In a part of Bali that few tourists ever see, groups learn about small-holder farming and social entrepreneurship, participate in meaningful service projects, and explore the natural surroundings and culture unique to this region. 

Internship: The intern will develop relationships with partner organizations in Bali and abroad, design and lead service-learning adventures, and manage social media for the organization, among other responsibilities.

♦ Fundación Banco de Alimentos (Food Bank) of Buenos Aires- Human Resources Intern and Project Intern

Buenos Aires, Argentina

The Food Bank of Buenos Aires is a non-profit organization that aims to reduce hunger, improve nutrition and avoid food waste. It contributes to feed 100,002 people, 80% of which are children and teenagers, through a network of 760 community-based organizations from the City and the Province of Buenos Aires.

Internships: The Project intern will research the food market and distributions systems of the metropolis of Buenos Aires, identify new food donor partners, and make field visits to coordinate with local food distribution centers. The Human Resources intern will learn about what it takes to manage a non-profit with more than 150 volunteers, including the processes of recruitment, selection, orientation, placement, and community outreach.

♦ People Global Relocation- Mobility Services Intern

Madrid, Spain

People Global Relocation specializes in providing Mobility and Relocation Services to other companies and individuals. PGR went public in 2012, providing mobility solutions to companies that move and/or expand their businesses and to individuals, who establish their “homes” in a new location.

 ♦ Meadpoint– Real Estate Investment Analysis Intern

Meadpoint is focused on commercial and multi-family real estate investments in Singapore, Australia, China, and Japan. As of 1Q2017 assets under management were primarily located in Australia and Japan.

Internship: Summer analyst position with boutique real estate investment management firm. The activities the analyst will be involved in include, but are not limited to:

 ♦ Moroccan Logistics Development Agency (AMDL)– Logistical Services Analysis Intern 

Rabat, Morocco

The Moroccan Logistics Development Agency (AMDL) is a public, governmental organization that was established during July of 2011 and whose principal role is the syndication of various logistical actors at various levels, as well as the coordination of projects in the implementation of Morocco's integrated national strategy for the development of logistical competitiveness.

Internship: The intern may expect responsibilities of the following nature:

(I) Establishing an orientation to identify insurance products suitable for logistical activities.

(II) Proposal of a roadmap for the development of an offer of insurance products better suited to the logistics sector.

(III) Conducting a survey of professionals in the sector (logistics service providers, insurance companies, professional associations, etc.) to carry out an inventory of insurance offerings and the identification of expectations and needs of professionals.

(IV) International benchmarking in the provision of insurance for logistics activities.

(V) Proposing products and offering insurance to meet the needs of professionals in Morocco's logistics sector.

(VI) Elaboration of a roadmap for the development of an adapted supply of logistics insurance products.

China Resume Book on Handshake

China

The Office of Global Internships and the Career Center are partnering to develop a resume book of current UVA students interested in China-based internship opportunities. Students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels studying at any of the University’s eleven schools are invited to submit their resume/CV and a brief personal introduction to be included in the book. These materials will then be shared with China-based employers for their perusal.

The purpose of this resume book project is twofold: 1) to present employers a meaningful portrait of the diversity of talent and interests of UVA students, with the ultimate aim of encouraging employers to develop and offer internships, and 2) to create a means by which individual students may be directly recruited by employers for specific internships.
